Historien om muséet på Gjøviks tak. Da Wexel Hansen Kauffeldt testamenterte sin formue til Gjøvik by og Vardal herred i 1857 kunne han ikke vite hvilke viktige bidrag dette skulle gi til vern av fortidsminner i distriktet. For pengene kjøpte nemlig kommunene Øverby som har gitt grunn til Eiktunet.
